Washington Climate Corps Network to launch in Tacoma on November 17

WHO: Washington Climate Corps Network, Serve Washington

WHAT: Serve Washington will be hosting a celebration of the launch of the Washington Climate Corps Network, WCCN. Serve Washington staff will announce the community organizations that received funding to become part of the WCCN.

The WCCN is a network of AmeriCorps programs committed to growing climate-related service opportunities that mobilize and train young adults and veterans to build clean energy and climate-resilient economies and ecosystems. The WCCN was made possible through legislation in 2023 intended to develop service and workforce programs supporting climate-ready communities, especially those that are overburdened.

Speakers will include Gov. Jay Inslee, Rep. Vandana Slatter, Serve Washington Executive Director Amber Martin-Jahn, Washington Climate Corps Director Matt Glazewski, EarthCorps Executive Director Evlyn Andrade and EarthCorps members, Washington Conservation Corps Director Bridget Talebi and Washington Conservation Corps AmeriCorps members.

WHEN: 1:30-2:30 p.m., November 17, 2023

WHY: Celebrate launch of and create awareness of the Washington Climate Corps Network and introduce WCCN programs.
